Featuring eight world-class softball fields for year-round play, Best of the West Softball Complex in Palmdale, CA attracts athletes, young and old, from all over southern California. A-G Sod Farms – Palmdale was happy to work with park officials to rehab two fields, that after years of heavy play, needed a facelift in the outfield.
A new service by A-G Sod Farms, Removal and Replacement of natural grass fields, offers a great solution for these worn and distressed fields. Ideal for not only sports fields, but golf courses, parks and schools alike, we use the state-of-the-art GKB Combinator pictured above to remove the top layer without affecting the root network. Our crews create a quick and clean turnaround.
With a strict timeline, two professional crews were able to work diligently to get the job done on time. Over two days, one inch of soil and green materials were removed from the outfields of both fields using the GKB Combinator. Once removed, the fields were prepped with soil and the fields were brought back to life with 57,000 sq. ft. of our Ball Park Blend. This blend consists of warm-season Hybrid Bermuda that is overseed with a blend of cool-season Ryegrass and Kentucky Bluegrass and is grown at our local Palmdale farm. Big rolls were used to create less seams and shorten the wait period so athletes could get back on these fields in little time.
