A-G Sod Farms – Fresno wows Bakersfield community with its recently completed natural grass project covering over 530,000 sq. ft. with drought-tolerant TifTuf™ Hybrid Bermuda. The 170-acre park and sports complex includes areas for mixed recreational use and competitive athletic play.
Completed over a one-month period, the project included five mixed-use football/soccer fields, and several large miscellaneous recreational areas. Using big roll cuts, that allow for more efficient installation, TifTuf™ Hybrid Bermuda was installed by one of A-G’s professional crews.
Ideal for the California climate, this drought-tolerant, warm-season grass withstands dryer temperatures and offers beneficial water-savings. Another key benefit of this variety is its durability in withstanding a high-level of use, making it the perfect grass for playing fields.
Overseeing the project was A-G Sod sales representative for the central California area, Alec LeMay. LeMay’s focus on this project was to make certain that the sod was being delivered and installed on a tight schedule so that grass was under the least amount of stress possible. At the conclusion, it was “quite satisfying to see a project of this scale come together. The Bakersfield community will certainly be able to enjoy these fields for years to come” says LeMay.
