Sod Variety: Tifway 419
Cut: Big Roll
Square Footage: Approx. 75,000 Sq. Ft.
Timeframe: 2 Days
Farm: A-G Sod Farms – Fresno
Located in Reedley, CA, the Reedley High School varsity baseball field recently received a much-needed facelift with the help of our Fresno farm and local landscape construction company, Briner and Son.
Reedley High School was built in 1918 and is part of the Kings Canyon Unified School District. In March of 2021, the varsity team was finally able to return to practice and begin their season after a year of uncertainty due to the pandemic.
Over two days, crews were able to install 75,000 sq. ft. of Tifway 419. This versatile hybrid Bermuda is disease resistant, tolerates close mowing heights, and spreads quickly to create a dense turf.
Tifway 419 is most popular for its use in professional sports stadiums. Today, it can be found at Oracle Park in San Francisco, Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles, and many others.
“These student athletes are playing on a top-quality, natural playing surface” says Alec LeMay, sales rep for A-G Sod Farms.
Natural grass fields are proven by many industry studies to provide a safer playing surface for athletes at all levels. “We are happy to be able to provide a safer environment where these young kids can further develop their skills” says LeMay.
With this newly finished field, the Reedley High Pirates are ready to play some baseball.
